Scope of works:

  • Remove and dispose of existing deteriorated timber mooring posts, fenders, whalers and boardwalk;
  • Replace with new marine grade suitable treated hardwood members capable of sustaining a 25 year service life.

GR used a series of pontoons, labour and an excavator to remove and dispose the existing materials, this component was tricky due to tidal movement, varying weather and onerous restriction around boating movement and a looming end of financial year deadline. GR was also responsible for obtaining a high risk permit from Melbourne Water and staged engineering reports. Given the high profile location, GR was required to submit a suitable and well thought out site plan and construction methodology.

The Kananook Creek boardwalk has now been complete in a high standard for which GR is known. The general public now have access to the revitalised area just in time for summer…..
